Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy can jump-start the body’s ability to regenerate new tissue. It also decreases your pain by directly stimulating your nerves at the site of the injury.
How it Works
Shockwave therapy works by emitting high energy pulses. These pulses of acoustic energy are focused on the target tissues by the handpiece of the shockwave therapy machine and cause localized microtrauma that stimulates the bodies natural healing processes. The shock waves stimulate angiogenesis / neovascularization (new blood vessels) and neurogenesis (new nerve cells). The microtrauma increases local circulation and enhances breakdown of calcifications (calcium build-up).
-
Increases circulation around injured soft tissues
-
Breaks down calcified deposits (like kidney stones)
-
Stimulates cells that generate new bone tissue and connective tissue.
-
Reduces pain by overstimulating nerve endings in the affected area.
